Pupil Premium

  /  Pupil Premium

What is Pupil Premium?

The pupil premium is additional funding given to schools so that they can support their disadvantaged pupils and close the attainment gap between them and their peers. It was introduced in April 2011 and is allocated to schools to work with pupils who have been registered for free school meals (FSM) at any point in the last six years. Looked after children and those of service personnel also attract funding.

Funding for 2020-2021

This year we will use pupil premium funding to;

  • Provide resourcing for interventions to help pupils close gaps in learning, promoting meta-cognition and peer support
  • Provide additional staff in order to address emotional, social and behavioural needs in order to ensure pupils are able to access learning fully through our ELSA programme
  • Employ additional lunchtime supervision to support small group activity away from a busy playground
  • Provide additional training for teaching and support staff in the management, delivery and assessment of intervention in order to support ‘catch up’ in phonics, early reading and comprehension
  • Subsidise aspects of the curriculum for pupils eligible for pupil premium including off site trips
  • Provide access to curriculum enrichment activities, developing talents and skills within these groups of pupils

Your child may be able to get free school meals if you get any of the following;

  • Income Support
  • Income-based Jobseekers Allowance
  • Income-related Employment and Support Allowance
  • Support under Part VI of the Immigration and Asylum Act 1999
  • The guaranteed element of State Pension Credit
  • Child Tax Credit (provided you’re not also entitled to Working Tax Credit and have an annual gross income of no more than £16,190)
  • Working Tax Credit run-on – paid for 4 weeks after you stop qualifying for Working Tax Credit Universal Credit

Please read our attached impact reports below giving details of premiums received, use of this grant and the overall impact of our actions.
